Odisha-Style Chicken Curry

To make Odisha-Style Chicken Curry, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Odisha Style Chicken Curry


  1. Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions, ginger, and garlic. Fry until golden brown.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  3. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add chicken pieces and stir well. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce thickens.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice.
